Maria João Xavier holds a PhD in Animal Science from the University of Porto which was developed in collaboration with two research institutes: the Center of Marine Science (CCMAR) and the Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), along with an industrial partner SPAROS Lda. Previously, she worked as a R&D Manager of the Aquaculture and Insect sector at Phileo by Lesaffre and as a Junior Researcher in the Aquaculture Research Group (CCMAR) and as a Post-doc at the Portuguese Institute of Ocean and Atmosphere (IPMA). Her main research field is focused on fish larvae nutrition, exploring the effect of functional feeds and their impacts on performance, health status, and stress response. Currently, she integrates the GreenCoLab research team, as a Researcher, dedicated to unveiling the algae’s potential properties as nutraceutical for aquaculture nutrition.
