Vacancy purpose:
ASSOCIAÇÃO OCEANO VERDE – LABORATÓRIO COLABORATIVO PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DE TECNOLOGIAS E PRODUTOS VERDES DO OCEANO (hereinafter referred to as GreenCoLAB) opens recruitment and selection competition for 1 Research technical officer (M/F), vacancy to satisfy temporary needs under an uncertain term employment contract in order to support the work carried in the context of the research project with reference: H2020-MSCA-RISE-2015-691102 “Algae4IBD – From nature to bedside – Algae based bio compound from prevention and treatment of inflammation, pain and IBD” (Project ID: 101000501) funded by the European’s Union funding programme: Horizon 2020 – the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
Tasks:
- Production and maintenance of micro- and macroalgae at laboratory scale and pilot scale;
- Improve the intracellular content of bioactive metabolites in algal cultures;
- Extraction of algal metabolites using different methodologies;
- Biochemical characterization of algal biomass and algal extracts;
- Chemical characterization of algal biomass and extracts by HPLC-DAD-FL-RI.
Profile required:
- Hold a MSc degree in Analytical chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related fields;
- Experience in lab-scale algae cultivation;
- Experience in chromatographic techniques, such as TLC, HPLC-DAD and GC-MS;
- Experience in algae metabolomics;
- Excelent English language and writing skills.

Other Preferred Requirements:
- Be strongly motivated, demonstrate autonomy and the ability to propose new approaches;
- Experience in the development and / or execution of national and international projects

Starting Date
The contract is scheduled to start in June 2021 and will only last for the period necessary to implement the proposed work plan.
Workplace
The activities will be carried out at GreenCoLAB headquarters, as well as at other locations to be indicated by the Executive Committee, to fulfil the tasks to be performed.
Work schedule
35 hours a week.
Monthly Compensation
Monthly gross salary of 1.500,00€

Evaluation and Selection Process
The evaluation is carried out in two stages.
Stage One: Curriculum Evaluation
The selection of the admitted candidates is made through the evaluation of the motivation letter that will indicate the most relevant activities, career development plan and the curriculum vitae that will include the candidate’s scientific and professional career.
Stage Two: Interview
If the jury deems it necessary for the evaluation, the best ranked candidates for the curriculum evaluation will proceed to the second phase, which will consist of an individual interview, either in person or via videoconference.
