GreenCoLab’s presence at AlgaEurope 2024, which took place from December 10 to 13 in Athens and was organized by the European Algae Biomass Association (EABA) and DLG Benelux, was marked by inspiring moments for the team and its partners.
With a robust presence of more than 15 members, the group stood out by presenting 15 various scientific posters and 4 talks, underlining its solid involvement in projects funded by Europe and Portugal, such as IberoBio, REALM algae, LOCALITY Algae and Algae Vertical.
To this edition, the GreenCoLab booth has brought several new features to showcase including: the Clean Culture prototypes that aim to detect early biological contaminants in algae cultures; a 3D model of the fish epithelium making it possible to simulate the interactions of key ingredients in the fish gut; scalable biorefined extracts obtained from algae that offer a wide range of applications in the food and cosmaceutical industries; improved strains of microalgae, such as Pavlova gyrans, capable of maximizing its productivity; and finally the innovative algae-based foods that represents a growing trend in healthy eating segments, contributing to a balanced and conscious diet.
In Addition, our team presentations:
-
Ana Teresa Gonçalves: “Gut Performance for Resilient Aquaculture Fish” – “Use of microalgae in aquaculture diets to improve fish health.”
-
Daniel Figueiredo: “Improved Pavlova gyrans strains for sustainable and nutritious aquafeeds”; YAS -2025
-
Lais Galileu Speranza: “Using Life Cycle Assessment to evaluate the sustainability of algae biorefineries”
