The MICROBOOST project, designed to develop and optimise ingredients for functional fish feed using microalgae, has reached its final stage. MICROBOOST is an initiative funded by the EEA Grants Blue Growth programme. Led by Allmicroalgae and involving key partners from Portugal (SPAROS, CIIMAR and GreenCoLab) and Norway (NIVA – Norwegian Institute for Water Research and the University of Bergen), the project has made significant strides in using microalgae to improve the health and resilience of fish in aquaculture.
Over the last two years, the project team has carried out extensive research and development, creating high-value immunostimulatory ingredients derived from Nannochloropsis sp. and Euglena gracilis.
MICROBOOST’s aim now is to introduce the developed products to the market, making a significant contribution to the aquaculture industry.
Continued collaboration between the partners will ensure that the advances made have a lasting impact.
