To consolidate and exchange knowledge, the ParAqua EU COST Action network organized a conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from the 15th to 17th of April, the, which GreenCoLab was invited to attend. This COST Action is at the forefront of understanding zoospore parasites and their impact on both natural ecosystems and the industrial production of algae biotechnology.
Researchers Gabriel Bombo, Cristina Paulino and Mélissa José broadened their knowledge by attending meetings, workshops and training sessions. The conference offered a valuable platform for discussions on crucial topics, including advanced algae production techniques, the complex relationship between parasites and algae, as well as the current challenges and promising prospects within the algae industry.
Each working group delved into the latest advances in their respective areas, covering topics such as occurrence, drivers, control and valorisation, and dissemination strategies.
