On the 27th of July, the online kickoff meeting of the PERFORMALGAE project took place. The meeting joined several researchers from Allmicroalgae (project promoter), GreenColab and University of Algarve, with complementary expertise in algal biotechnology, aquaculture, and agriculture fields.
During the meeting, the industrial and academic partners discussed the operation plan for the effective implementation of the different activities of this ambitious project.
PERFORMALGAE is a P2020 funded project with the main goal of establishing high performing microalgal strains, using high throughput non-GMO methodologies. The strain improvement pipeline targets increasing contents of high-value metabolites to generate novel and innovative products to the market, namely biostimulants and biopesticides for agricultural applications as well as functional ingredients for the aquafeed sector.
